The PCM Mustang wrestling team traveled to Ankeny, December 12th, to end their busy week of meets. The current trend of losses prevailed but with a better excuse, considering that the majority of the teams there were 3A, and 2A PCM was missing seven wrestlers in their varsity lineup.
PCM faced five teams; first was Ankeny Centennial. The opponent put up 69 points, and PCM was only able to to settle for six points. The wrestlers who did win were freshman Wes Cummings, who fought hard for a 10-4 win, and freshman Lucas Roland, who won 5-0. Next up was Dallas Center-Grimes, and not much changed. Cummings and Roland pinned their opponents, and junior Xavier Miller won his match with a tech fall. Following was a match against Oskaloosa. Junior Jakob Fenton won a close match of 4-2, and freshmen Jarron Trausch, Miller and Roland all won their matches. However, this was still not enough to beat the Indians, andPCM lost 39-33. Next up for the Mustangs was Dowling Catholic, where the Mustangs were defeated 59-21. To end the long day of wrestling were the Ballard Bombers, with Fenton, Roland, Miller and Trausch all pinning their matches, making the dual close but not close enough, losing once again 36-48.
